Harmony and Unity

By the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ I appeal to all of you, my friends, to agree in what you say, so that there will be no divisions among you. Be completely united, with only one thought and one purpose. - 1 Cor 1:10 (GNT)

Praying for Harmony & Unity to cover us is a nice prayer and it makes us feel peaceful, calm. But for us to be on the same page, what do these words really mean?

Harmony: agreement, peace, fellowship, cooperation, understanding, like mindedness

Unity: the state of being united, solidarity, collaboration, harmony, agreement, oneness

Harmony & Unity are so much more than nice words – they’re powerful. Not just for the church on Sunday; but applied to each one of us in our daily lives: in our family relationships, with coworkers, with our friends, our neighbors next door and down the street. If Harmony & Unity are a daily practice – commonplace - in each of our relationships, what we bring back to the body of Christ will be that much more powerful – it’s already a way of life.

"…so that there will be no divisions among you…"

No dissension or division, putting aside bitterness & strife. The past is the past, leave it there. Don't bring it into the now. The old is gone, the new is here and now. TODAY

How wonderful it is, how pleasant, for God's people to live together in harmony. It is like the precious anointing oil running down from Aaron's head and beard, down to the collar of his robes. It is like the dew on Mount Hermon, falling on the hills of Zion. That is where the Lord has promised his blessing— life that never ends. - Ps 133:1-3 (GNT)

Who are we holding bitterness or a grudge against? Let each one of us make the decision today, right now, to step into the new. Let us bring our best to accomplish the work we have been assigned. Let us be the LOVED FIRST church to effectively love outside our walls. LOVE IS A VERB: Put someone else before yourself, be willing, get involved!

Let us continue to pray for our leadership that they will effectively cast the vision for us which will enable us to know what part we each can contribute to the whole, in Harmony & Unity.

Pray with me:

Father, we acknowledge the places that need your touch & restoration. Forgive us, cleanse us by the powerful blood of Jesus, make us whole, knit us together. Bring us to the place where we live each day in Harmony & Unity. It is Life forever more, in Jesus’s Name. Amen.
